Patrick Bolton:
Bassoon

Patrick was an undergraduate student at Christ Church, Oxford, before completing his masters at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Robin O’Neill, Jonathan Davies, and Amy Harman, and the contrabassoon with Simon Estell. His studies were generously supported by the Isabel May Walton Scholarship, Countess of Munster Trust, and Help Musicians UK. At the Academy, he was selected to perform as principal bassoon in the Rite of Spring at the BBC Proms 2019 with the joint forces of the Academy and the Juilliard School under the baton of Edward Gardner. He also worked with Sir Mark Elder, Jac van Steen, and Trevor Pinnock. Patrick is a founding member of Ensemble Renard, the Nicholas Blake Woodwind Ensemble Prize winners 2019, Royal Academy of Music Chamber Music Fellows 2020/21, and Tunnell Trust Award winners 2021. He graduated from the Academy in 2020 with a distinction, the prestigious DipRAM, and a Regency Award.

Professionally Patrick has worked with the Aurora, London Philharmonic, and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as with the English National Opera. He is also principal bassoon of Orchestra for the Earth. Patrick won second prize at The Arts Club – Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award 2020 in association with Classic FM and was a semi-finalist in the Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition 2021.
