Summer season photo dump 🌞

We’ve had an amazing time travelling all over the UK performing to extremely appreciative audiences these past months. A huge thank you to the guest players who’ve joined us, @jordanblack9515 @lukeyboyanglais @alecross__ - we’ve been spoilt!

#reintroducing … 💃 Patrick Bolton 💃

Last but CERTAINLY not least (see picture 3), Lady Patrick of Bolton. Besides providing the bottom for Ensemble Renard, Patrick is often found on the dancefloors of London’s queer nightlife scene and/or fussing over the best brands of pasta and tinned tomatoes.

Patrick is a versatile bassoonist who combines work with some of the UK’s top orchestras with a busy schedule of chamber music and solo engagements. He has performed with the RPO, Aurora Orchestra, LPO, CBSO, Philharmonia, BBC Philharmonic, Hallé, and BBC Concert Orchestras, as well as with the English National Opera. As a soloist, Patrick won second prize at The Arts Club – Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award 2020 in association with Classic FM, was a finalist at the Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition 2022, and in 2023 he performed the Elgar Romance for Bassoon with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Patrick has performed at the Brúndibar Arts Festival, and is a founding member of the wind quintet Ensemble Renard. His passion for contemporary music has brought him to work with Octandre Ensemble, Ensemble Musikfabrik, and the London Sinfonietta. Patrick was also invited to perform at a memorial for the late Harrison Birtwistle at Plush Manor.
Patrick is a First-Class music graduate of Christ Church, Oxford, where he was the recipient of the Clifford Smith Prize for Music and an Ensemble ISIS New Music Scholarship. He then took up a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Robin O’Neill, Jonathan Davies, Amy Harman, and Simon Estell. Patrick graduated in 2020 with a distinction and was awarded a DipRAM and a Regency Award. He has since held fellowships with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
